One of the more formative experiences I’ve had in my CS journey is City College of San Francisco’s Ethical Hacking and Network Defense class. It used to be open to everyone, but now it appears you need to have a Student ID to participate, due to the school’s struggle with ghost students.
In the coming months, I’m going to audit this course. Since I’m not in it for the points (I’ve graduated), I can just have fun! It’s a 3 month long asynchronous hackathon for me. Additionally, there’s a more advanced course CNIT 124 that I plan on auditing concurrently.
There were a lot of times where the time pressure of school and life prevented me from really diving into the concepts illustrated in the exercises in these courses. I’m looking forward to improving my skills in this next iteration.
